AFAIK you have to set the userName in the section in machine.config (%windir%\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v1.0.3705\CONFIG) to SYSTEM, otherwise you have no permission to access the event log. when I set mode to On,say Please set customErrors mode to On Again.
